Default prayers: late but sincere

Caught this old lady praying after the temple has closed.
However, that has not diminish her sincerity as she continues to pray outside.
Plus the 2 guys sitting & chatting just outside the gate caught my eye.

not a fantastic shot, but just to share to everyone.

nice shot.. I like the meaning of it.. you may just wanna try a few things :

1) try a few more angles (directly behind her would be a good one) Yes, it may be cliche and maybe a little too 'flat' but the shot will work.

2) play around with contrast on your post-pro. This shot is slightly over as can tell from the 2 guys' white shirts so you can do alittle burning here and there.

3) overall, the feel is good and the meaning is there.

Thanks for the tips & comments.

Basically i used a self recorded PS B&W action for convenience.
Will try to play around with post-pro and post again.

Tip #1 is good. Since I'm new to street shooting, so a bit paiseh, also try to be more discrete, so end up didn't think too much during shooting. Will shoot more, try more, learn more.

Somehow I feel that the two guys sitting in front of the temple is more intriguing than the old lady praying...

Anyway, the backview of someone praying doesn't work...

Here's my second try at post pro...

Was not able to get the right feel w/o over exposing the 2 guys.
Mainly due to the red temple door - to get the correct exposure for guys,
the red door will not be so dark & solid. Thus losing the feel for the entire pic.

So end up creating a sepia one.

maybe this would help improve the shot (which is already rather meaningful, in my opinion) ... a lower angle, to bring her eyeline closer to the temple's name....so that she don't appear to be praying to the two men sitting at the gate instead.

maybe a slight change of angle so we can see clearly that she's actually really praying....and not just standing there. (is she praying using joss sticks by the way?)

the two men don't really work for me actually. perhaps a better idea would be to include walking passers-by in the picture (slight motion-blurred?). then again, it could be a quiet day that day.

good job, i enjoyed the meaning behind the picture!
