    im using SOny W1...
    wats +/- EOV and what are the situations when adjusting this is important?

    EOV? I din see any EOV in my W1? Maybe i blur

    probably stands for ExpOsure Value (try ur manual?)
    electronics as advanced as they can be, arent foolproof. most common tricky lighting situations like backlit subjects or dim lighting conditions can fool the camera into producing wrongly exposed pictures. adjusting that allows you to override the camera setting to produce more acceptable pictures.
