Default Some butts taken on 24Oct2004

Some butts taken today (24Oct2004), weather was threatening and resulted in dark backgrounds.

Very nice shot, was wondering why all the background is so dark..best if it has light colour background also can see the two tails? don't know what that call..it's above the butterfly head... sharp and in detail...

Shot no. 1 is a dead butt.....

Nice shots, too bad about the bad lighting conditions, would have preferred natural light though...

Those are not tails, they are the butterfly's antennae (or feelers).

Judging by the shots, yup, should be, lots of Tree Nymphs there (import from Taiwan).

If you stop down significantly, shoot with fast(ish) shutter speeds, and use flash, the foreground will be lit but the background will be darkened even with 'adequate' ambient light. Gives a stark, dramatic effect, different from the creamy, soothing backgrounds you get shooting with ambient light only.
