So since Chinese companies already bought over:
    1) Lenovo
    2) Volvo
    3) Hummer
    4) Rover
    5) MG

    Maybe also,

    6)....Kodak ?
Er... I don't think the sales went through for Hummer and Lenovo was a chinese company to begin with... it just bought over IBM notebook division.

Not to forget, the Chinese also bought over Phillips Mobile Division...

It is really sad that Kodak is running into such trouble... I remember my first camera (film one) was a kodak... I love it to pieces.

Frankly... I am hoping for Olympus to buy down Kodak... afterall the 4/3 sensor was a joint venture with Kodak in developement...

If the guy had used digital, there will be no hazard of film acids.

Come on. Hazardous material is everywhere, cleanser, bleach, paint, thinner, pesticides, and many more common household items. Just handle them with care according to safety instruction. No need to blame film acids!

I don't get it why digital camera users hate film so much.

Film won't die, kodak might restrict to limited production per year. (There are still others like Ilford, Ekfa, Fuji, Shanghai...) But nothing will kill film due to certain industry still need film to produce what digital cannot produce till today. What will be a more possible problem will be the continue rising of film price due to silver cost and lack of market on home consumer level. When that day comes, I should be already starting on wet plate already. ;P

This is a 2007 article that shows that Vinyl records are still made at a 20k to 40k per day rate. Mostly for more specialised uses like for DJs and marketing.

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,253544,00.html

i'm not saying that film will definitely continue to live like Vinyl, but i'm not ready to lose hope and sound the death knell for film just yet. Film still has it's advantages, superiority in certain areas and an inimitable look which has yet to be reproduced in digital. These factors alone may keep film alive for a long long time more.

We can do our part and shoot more film NOW!

KODAK will soon bought by a greedy hedge fund (grasshopper!!!),
then, as always totally dismantled and robbed & looted.

...after the hedge fund seeks to plunder the next company......!

We can impose a special tax on DSLRs and use the fund to financially support the film shooters.

The latest announcement only stated Neopan SS, not Neopan Presto, was discontinued.
