Default Kodak - don't give up

The one who gave us wonderful films such as Kodachrome, GPF, Ektar 25, TMax, Plus-X Pan, Tri-X Pan....

Kodak is in a tough situation. The company George Eastman founded - "You press the button - we do the rest".

Hope they pull out of it and go on the greater prosperity.

They refused to acknowledge that film is dead... and now they will die lol
There are a lot of stories from kodak employee about the management.
The company used to make money so easy that they don't want to try anything else.
    Well....

That's sad news... especially for people like me who have recently rediscovered the beauty of film.

It is the last gasp before it dies & is buried. Film & prints were simply awesome in the past. One look at the quality of fine prints makes the eyes pop up & the mouth salivate, leaving an indelible mark in one's memories. But digital is great too & there is no looking back. The ability, ease & speed to store, transfer, edit the digital medium by consumers is priceless & its going to get better & better. Ten years back, I wouldnt touch digital but now its different. Same for analogue/digital hi-fi. Takes time for the technology to matures. Film has more than a 100 years history. 1-2 more generations & film/prints will be a forgotten art relegated to museums.

I remembered the days when I shot a roll or two of Kodachrome in the weekend, sent it to process in a camera shop after work on Monday and went back to collect the yellow box on Friday after work and viewing the slides in the train home.

If you were in Asia outside Japan where there was no Kodachrome processing centre, you might have to wait for weeks for the films to return.

The instant gratification and immediacy of digital photography has taken the waiting away.

Kodak, thank you for showing me the pleasure of photography and I will always remember you with fond memories.

Would be a waste for the photo industry to lose the Kodak brand. Maybe China can help USA.
