Nice series....except for the cutting cake where I find the tree distracting as the your flash suddenly expose the top of the tree. I would rather you PSed it away since you have done post process on most of it.

Did u have series where you can see the bride and groom face for photo no.24 & 26? Shooting just with ambience light is ok as you want to created that mood. For my own preference, if I was the groom, I would like to see myself clearer, probably with a fill in flash. That's just me.....hehe

Overall nice controlled exposure with well balance compo......nice!

Nice series!

I would like to say pics 4 and 5 (close-up portraits for the bride) doesn't work for me, as DOF is definitely too shallow.

I understand you're trying to capture and concentrate on the eyes, but I find the smile of the bride very captivating in these 2 shots. By using a shallow DOF, you can't bring out the moment there.

Or did you purposely PSed them away?

I think DOF works well here. I believe he purely wants his viewers to focus on that particular point of interest. I'm sure there's more things to a picture than just DOF, right?

I feel that since he's already going macro already, what's moment got to do here?

Perhaps someone can show him otherwise by displaying some GOOD shots in their galleries or perhaps better DOF shots to make a difference and for all to LEARN

iamasaint: you have done relatively good here like ProImage said, some just need a little tweak here and there. if i'm your potential client, i would have you on top of my list already good stuff

Who knows? I'm just a nobody. Just saying my two cents worth.

Looking at the EXIF, the aperture used is f/1.8. I really can understanding if he's trying to portrait the mood by concentrating on the eyes, but it just doesn't work for me though.

BTW, DOF is directly linked to creating the effect of the pic, which changes a lot of perspective of photos.

Just my honest opinion.

Hi guys,

thanks for taking the time to comment. I was busy over the weekend. Some of these shots, like the one with the close up on the bride, was taken without flash. My main reason for doing so is to not alert the bride and make myself prominent by firing off the flashes all the time. As such, for most of these candid shots, i try my best to shoot with whatever I have. I believe i used an 85mm f1.8 lens for this and I'll try to smaller the aperture to f5.6 at least if i can afford to. I value the speed more than the aperture to keep the pic sharp...1/30 is abt as low as i would normally go. Hence, in an enclosed room with minimal lights, its always wide opened for the lens.

Nice work Kelv, good control of motion blur & color contrast in this series, I like the fresh style you've put into this series, glad to see something new every time. Ambient lighting works for me, don't have to use flash like you mentioned, agree totally sometimes f/1.8 all works for me too! I don't think it's necessary to go f/5.6 f/8 always, DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

Thumbs up

Yet another fantastic series from you, have always enjoyed browsing thru your wedding series, always a refreshing eye and perspective from the normal standard wedding shots. Love the use of wide apertures for closeups on the bride's face. Overall, great stuff, thanks for sharing!!

BTW where was this outdoor wedding location held at? megaweb mentioned Burkill Gardens...where is that?

Hard to pick a favourite, but the following shot appeals to me the most, like the concept behind it...caught at the right moment and very unique POV too...

Hi guys...thanks for taking the time to let it load... and critique.

Ron: Yup I'm looking forward to those as well. I'm sure you've done a good job from the sound of it. =)

Tom: Thanks. All were shot in jpg i believe. I alter the hue and saturation and also the curves. All these I have to thank clown (James).

Garion: You've always been kind. I like that shot too but I like the second close up of the bride quite a bit and the pic of the little boy smiling in your face! Hahah....burkhill hall is at Botanic gardens. lovely but ex.... very ex...

Virgo: I understand your points and they are valid but personally...I try to not use flash if possible. The colors arent as nice and it'll need lots of post edit work with the colors sian... also... it gives you away. People will start noticing you're around and thats when you lose some of the potential nice candid shot... cheers

Megaweb... you're right. Spot on.... I only realised it on the night itself. Didnt know it would be such a challenge... if you notice...in the gallery...there are some shots where the couple had to use their PDS to light up the vows they were reading...sheesh.

Michael: f5.6 is a good aperture size to shoot potraits yes? =)

melvin: Thanks but my saints arent doing too well in the EPL...sian....
