    King and Country FOB037

In the system-specific allotment if duties, each member of the crew is dependent on the other for all to survive a tank duel together. During operations, the crew lives in and with the tank, not only during combat, but also before and after.

The Renault R35 was a French light tank development of the pre-World War 2 period and followed general French tank design measures of the time. It proved a serviceable combat tank and has an edge over the German Panzer I and II tanks with its thick 40mm armor which was able to withstand most German antitank weapons/rounds - though not without limitations (slow speed of 20km/h). It was wholly overpowered by the Germans better tactics used in the battlefield and French own inept planning during the Battle of France. The swiftness of the German assaults often meant that scores of the new French tanks were simply overtaken, abandoned by the crews if not destroyed.

The Renault R35 was notable as being the most numerous of all the French tanks in service at the time of the German invasion of May 1940. Total production eventually netted 1,685 vehicles.

Stocks of Renault R35 captured by the Germans were reissued for local security, School training and to shore up garrisons where needed after the conquest of France and the Low Countries.

FOB059 Wehrmacht Bugler (King and Country FOB059)

"The British have evacuated their army at Dunkirk… Belgium and Holland have fallen… the French Army and Government are retreating and… Paris is an “open city”. June 14, 1940, the first long columns of German troops enter the French capitol. Around the Arc de Triomphe… down the Champs-Elysées the jackbooted soldiers march. They are tired… weary… but triumphant. K&C captures the moment perfectly."

A bugle call is a short tune, originated as a military signal announcing scheduled and certain non-scheduled events on a military installation, battlefield. For centuries they have been used to rouse the troops (Reveille), sound lights out, Pay call, Food call, Assembly and so on in the days before public address systems.

Most armies still do used bugles but more as a symbolic role i.e. military rites for honors presented at a funeral for a member of the military or police force.

The Combat Tanks Collection - Flakvierling Sd.Kfz. 7/1

The Sd.Kfz. 7 was a half-track military vehicle used by the Germans in WW2. (Sd.Kfz. is an abbreviation of the German word Sonderkraftfahrzeug, "special purpose vehicle")

    Weight - 11.55 tonnes
    Length - 6.85 m
    Width - 2.35 m
    Height - 2.62 m
    Crew - 1 driver
    Armour - 8 mm
    Main Armament - 2 cm Flakvierling 38 L/65 quadruple anti-aircraft gun
    Operational Range - 250 km (road) 120 km (off-road)
    Speed - 50 km/h (road)

    The large size image....

The Sd.Kfz. 7 also became the basis of a number of self-propelled anti-aircraft variants based on 20 mm and 37 mm flak types in use. The Sd.Kfz. 7/1 (this model) was armed with a 2 cm Flakvierling 38 quadruple anti-aircraft gun system. The Sd.Kfz. 7/2 (see here for this model posted in an earlier thread) was armed with a single 3.7 cm FlaK 36 anti-aircraft gun. On many of these variants, the driver's position and the engine cover was also armored (8 mm in thickness).

The 2 cm Flakvierling 38 quadruple anti-aircraft gun consisted of quad-mounted 2 cm Flak 38 AA guns. Each of the four mounted guns had a separate magazine that held only 20 rounds and the guns could be fired in pairs (diagonally opposite) or simultaneously, in either semi-automatic or fully automatic mode. It was also used just as effectively against ground targets as it was against low-flying aircraft.

    Weight - 1.514 tonnes
    Length - 4.08 m
    Caliber - 20 mm
    Elevation - -12° to +90°
    Traverse - 360°
Rate of fire - 180 rounds per minute (practical)
    Effective firing range - 2200 m
Feed system - 20 round box magazine

The SdKfz 7/1 is an open-top anti-aircraft gun platform and was not fully armored. The gun shield provide some protection against shrapnel and small arms fire at the front of the gun - however there is no armor at all above and behind the gun compartment. As such the SdKfz 7/1 offers little protection for the flak crew. The SdKfz 7/1 is operated by ten men: a commander, eight gunners and a driver.

The Combat Tanks Collection - Universal Trailer Chassis Sd. Ah. 51

The Sonderanhänger (Special Trailer) or Sd. Ah. 51 Trailer was used primarily to transport the German Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun and for the appropriated ammunition and equipment box (as depicted in this model).

    Weight - 350 kg
    Length - 2.520 m
    Width - 1.810 m
    Height (overall) - 1.10 m
    Pay load - 700 kg
    Tread centers - 1.55 m
    Wheel width - 0.190 m

    The large size image....

This Universal Trailer Chassis is a one axled (two-wheeled) trailer.

The Combat Tanks Collection - Kfz 222

    Weight - 4.00 tonnes
    Length - 4.80 m
    Width - 1.95 m
    Height - 1.70 m
    Crew - 3
    Armour - 5 - 14.5 mm
    Main Armament - 1 × 2 cm KwK 30 L/55 autocannon
    Operational Range - 300 km
    Speed - 80 km/h (road) 40 km/h (cross-country)

    The large size image....

The Leichter Panzerspähwagen (German: roughly "light armoured reconnaissance vehicle") was a series of light four-wheel drive armoured cars produced Germany from 1935 to 1944. During the middle stages of WW2, German armored divisions often used the 4-wheeled Armored Car Sd.Kfz.222 for scouting and reconnaissance duties. It performed well enough in countries with good road networks, like those in Western Europe. However, on the Eastern Front and in North Africa, this class of vehicle was hampered by its relatively poor off-road performance.

Sd. Kfz. 222 was armed with a 2 cm KwK 30 L/55 autocannon and a 7.92 mm MG 13 machine gun (mounted to the left of the autocannon). The crew was increased to three by the addition of a gunner, relieving the commander of that task (of doubling as a gunner for a two man crew). The Sd.Kfz.222 featured an angled body and a rotating square hull turret with an anti-grenade net (wire mesh anti-grenade screens) above its open top.

The LAV-25 (Light Armored Vehicle) is an eight-wheeled amphibious armored reconnaissance vehicle used by the United States Marine Corps and Canadian Army.

The LAV-25 has a 4-wheel drive (rear wheels) transferable to 8-wheel drive. It is also amphibious - limited to non-surf bodies of water (no oceans). While engaged in amphibious operations, the maximum speed is approximately 12 km/h using the equipped propellers at the rear of the vehicle at both sides.
