    Schleich Bald Eagle

"This symbolic bird of prey builds a nest that is the size of a small bedroom. This 'sea eagle,' the national bird of the United States of America, can be found near open water, a copious food supply, and an old growth forest.

Its most important food source is fish and it prefers to nest in tall, mature trees. This large bird can be forty-two inches in length, have a wingspan of eight feet, and have a mass of fifteen pounds. Interestingly enough, the females tend to be significantly larger than the males.

Usually living for a score or more, eagles may migrate if their water supply freezes. Mating for life, these birds share the work of raising chicks. "

    Schleich Peregrine Falcon

"When swooping down on their prey, Peregrine falcons can easily reach speeds of 200 km/h, making them one of the fastest animals on earth.

Peregrine falcons are the most widespread type of birds of prey. They are found on every continent on earth except for Antarctica. Even in urban areas, they are now finding artificial breeding cliffs. Peregrine falcons are highly specialised bird hunters, catching their prey right in the air with spectacular manoeuvres."

    Schleich Griffon Vulture

"Griffon Vultures rank among the largest birds in the Alpine region.

With a wing span of up to 2.6 metres, Griffon Vultures are mighty birds. As with many other species of vultures, they do not have a good standing from our human point of view. This is obviously due to their very exceptional appearance, with their long and naked necks and that, they are scavengers.

This means they solely eat carrion of animals that died before. Once a Griffon Vulture has spotted a cadaver, soon plenty of fellow vultures gather and won’t cease their feast until only the animal’s bare bones are left. Thus they act as the “clean-up police” of the animal kingdom. Whilst flying, Griffon Vultures are impressive gliders. "

    Schleich Snowy Owl

"Snowy owls have a thick feather coating on their feet. These are their "snow shoes" which protect them from the cold.

The snowy owl is a relatively large species of owl whose primary white colour represents an adaptation to their snowy habitat. Whereas young snowy owls are rather greyish in colour, this changes as they get older.

The females exhibit dark spots and bands and older males are often completely white. Because of the scarcity of food in their habitant, snowy owls also hunt during the daytime. They mostly feed on small mammals, but occasionally they eat fish as well."

The M60 is one of the world's most successful main battle tanks with 15,000 having been produced and serving in the armies of 22 countries. The tank has provided proven battlefield performance over four decades since 1960 and has been continuously advanced and upgraded with advanced weapon control, ammunition, applique armour and increasingly powerful engines.

The interior layout of the tank is based on the design of the M48 which provided ample room for these continual updates, improvements and new equipment - thus extending the vehicle's service life for well over four decades.

Sd.Kfz. 251s were used to transport a single squad of 10 panzergrenadiers accompanying the tanks (to keep pace with an advance) on the battlefield protected from enemy small arms fire, and with some protection from artillery fire. It has a open top design (as shown below).

The open top provides greater situational awareness and faster egress by the infantry, as well as the ability to throw grenades and fire over the top of the fighting compartment as necessary while remaining under good horizontal cover.

The downside was vulnerability to all types of plunging fire i.e. indirect fire from mortars and field artillery, as well as depressed-trajectory small arms fire from higher elevated positions, lobbed hand grenades, even Molotov cocktails, and strafing by enemy aircraft.

Sd.Kfz. 251s could also be used to tow light, medium or heavy anti-aircraft or anti-tank artillery guns like the 50 mm Pak 38, 75 mm PaK 40 (shown below) and even the 10.5 cm leFH 18 Light Field Howitzer as well.

The Panzer II was the most numerous tank in the German Panzer divisions beginning with the invasion of France.

It was used in both North Africa against the British and on the Eastern Front against the Soviet Union.

The SOMUA S35 was a French Cavalry tank of the Second World War. Built from 1936 until 1940 to equip the armoured divisions of the Cavalry, it was for its time a relatively agile medium-weight tank, superior in armour and armament to its French and foreign competitors, such as the contemporary versions of the German Panzer III. It was constructed from well-sloped, mainly cast, armour sections, that however made it expensive to produce and time-consuming to maintain.

During the German invasion of May 1940, the SOMUA S35 proved itself to be a tactically effective type, but this was negated by the French command's strategic mistakes in deploying the Cavalry armoured divisions.

The Panther tank was intended to counter the Soviet T-34 and to replace the Panzer III and Panzer IV. Nevertheless, it served alongside the latter and the heavier Tiger I until the end of the war. It is considered one of the best tanks of World War II for its excellent firepower and protection.

It was far cheaper to produce than the Tiger I, and only slightly more expensive than the Panzer IV. Key elements of the Panther design, such as its armour, transmission, and final drive, were simplifications made to improve production rates and address raw material shortages.
