YUJIN - Japanese Snapping Turtle / Chinese Soft Shell Turtle

The Chinese softshell turtle can reach a carapace length of 30cm. It has webbed feet for swimming. They are called "softshell" because their carapace lacks horny scutes (scales). The light and flexible shell of these turtles allows them to move more easily in open water, or in muddy lake bottoms.

This is a very very small miniature and was hard to get a good focus given its size

RA015 - Female Traffic Controller (King and Country RA015)

"This single female Military Police woman, flags in hand, expertly guides tanks and vehicles on their way to the front."

Soviet women played a major role in World War 2 (locally known as the Great Patriotic War). While most toiled in industry, transport, agriculture and other civilian roles, working double shifts to free up enlisted men to fight and increase military production, a sizable number of women served in the army.

There were 800,000 women who served in the Soviet Armed Forces during the war.

Traffic Controllers of the Red Army wore a patch "P" on their left arm that indicated their function. Flags were used to show drivers where they were supposed to go.

Germans start mounting armor skirts/plates called "Schürzen" on some of their medium tanks like the Stug and Panzer IV (depicted in this model).

"Schürzen" (“Aprons” or Side Skirts) were conceived and designed to provide protection primarily against Russian anti-tank rifles and low velocity high explosive rounds. The Schürzen were penetrated or torn off by the impacts, but remained serviceable. "Schürzen" are only 5 mm thick.

Today on the armor skirts of modern tanks such as the T-80 or the Merkava, reactive armor are also used and deployed.

The Panzer IV was the only German tank to remain in continuous production throughout the war years. It's sound design, with the wide superstructure which overhung the hull sides, allow it to be progressively up-gunned and up-armoured throughout the war in respond to changing combat conditions.

Though originally conceived as a support vehicle to the Panzer III, it was a reliable workhorse and remained in first line combat service throughout World War 2. It became the main stay of the Panzer force and the most produced of all the German wartime tanks in many variants.

The Carro Armato (armored vehicle) was Italian Army's designation for tanks from 1938 onwards. This would be followed by a letter and a series of numbers.

The letter would be either L, M or P meaning Light, Medium, and Heavy tank respectively. The numbers would follow the pattern of X/Y where X would be the weight in tonnes and Y the year of adoption

i.e. designation M13/40 means it is a Medium tank weighs 13 tonnes and was adopted in the year 1940

Though the M13/40 is classified as a Medium tank, at 13.5 tons it "sits" between/is heavier than the Japanase Light Tank Ha-Go (7.4 tons) but much lighter than Germany Medium tank Panzer III (23 tons)

The M13/40 tank had many grave shortcomings which severely hampered its effectiveness on the battlefield though
