    anybody had any idea the performance of this lens and the price for it.

    Other things remaining constant, it gives you a pretty good range ... on a D30/D60/10D/300D/20D (I'm a Canon user), it's shooting range is equivalent to 29-200mm.

    The price should be in the region of $520 to $560 ...

    If you want to go tele, then go with the tamron. If you want to go wide, then get the sigma. If you want both, then wait for the yet-to-be-released tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II

    If myself would choose the Sigma 18-125mm as a walk around lens, 'cause the Tamron 28-300 XR Di is not wide enough on DSLR IMO, and I don't want to bring a tripod all the time (when shooting between 200-300 with the Tamron, you'd probably need a tripod).
