Hi guys... these shots/angles have probably been done to death but would appreciate constructive/harsh comments for my first attempt into photography with a d70.
![]() Frankly, the fotos aren't as vibrant as I like them to be and look abit underexposed but they give a cooling feel... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Rev; 14th October 2004 at 09:56 AM. |

1st shot --> try to get closer/crop closer. Subject is too small for my liking(this is just personal opinion, some people like to have small subjects against vast backgrounds for perspective. I don't get that feel here though)
2nd shot--> Try to get the face/emotions. Hair is just not that appealing 3rd and 4th --> Normal snap. Although i find the naked kid distasteful when portrayed in this context. Doesn't really add strength to the shot. Hope you find these comments constructive. If not, don't take them to heart

I agree, pic 2 is OK. In fact, try it in black & white. It should be much better.
Just my 2 cents. |

hmm.. pic 1 was more a city/landscape shot
![]() Pic 2 to 4 were more like 1st attempts with portraiture which I'm horrible at. Thought the freezing of the water fountain would make a good contrast with the 'models'... Appreciate the comments guys, no need to be diplomatic, i'm just a newbie ![]() |

I beg to differ with Stoned on some,
For me, the first pic is good for environment/landscape shots, giving a nice overview of the place, but the exposure and perspective control can be improved. Second Pic isn't too flattering in my view, you can omit that. 3rd and 4th pics are good, the naked male kid with full frontal view standing there doing almost nothing but looking at the girl is a great direct constrast with the full clothed girl with back view playing happily, however, for that said, it will be better if the frontal view is the girl and the back view is the naked boy. like the naked kid looking at the girl. if the background can be blur-er, it will be better...the legs are a bit distracting.hee hee.........
first one can be used as postcard.... like the wide angle.

2 cts? How abt $1? Thanks...hehe
I thought full frontal nudity would give a very stark contrast, compel you to look at him and it's sorta acceptable because he's just a kid. Also, you hardly see kids in birthday suits playing with water in an urbanized area unlike those rural african or indonesian kids who have no clothing. Wish I could get a tighter crop with blurblock's idea but these kids just run the hell everywhere and I didn't think to do a blurred image at the time. Also, are pics like these actually not supposed to be posted on clubsnap? Last edited by Rev; 15th October 2004 at 10:52 AM. |

Full frontal nudity does give good contrast, but with all those said, picture is in your mind, a semi back view of a naked kid watching a fully clothed girl playing with water. I think the crop is good for 3-4 shots, but you could open your aperture wider or just use PS to blur the background. ![]() Of course both pictures not very well done, just do a quick touch up only. ![]() ![]() Last edited by blurblock; 15th October 2004 at 11:02 AM. |

honestly it was my third try at street photog. Agree with ya, the blurring of the background makes the subjects stand out better. Mind if I ask what else you did to the pictures other than the gaussian blur?

I like number 1 and 2 myself. The lack of vibrancy is it because of your camera setting or is it because of the D70's characteristic?
