    Default Macro with Sigma 70-200?

    Hi

Anyone tried shooting macro with a Sigma 70-200? What's your set up and resulting mag factor/working distance?

    you can use ext tube or closeup lens/filter like +3, +4, 5T, 6T, 500D & etc

using ext tube will depend on working distance of the lens,
e.g. if your sigma 70-200 has 1.8m , adding 25mm ext tube will have about 1m ( not sure about the formula ) working distance. Magnification is not as great as below setup.

    using closeup lens/filter like +3, +4, 5T, 6T, 500D & etc will depend on the Diopter of the lens/filter ( not the lens )
e.g. 500D which is +2 diopter will give a working distance of 1 feet to 1.5 feet to focus regardless of any focal length ..

THanks megaweb, was expecting a reply from you

will there be any compactability issue with using a canon 500D? or any type of extension tube?

The 500D is just like a filter, as long you get the correct size for the lens, there shouldn't be any compatibility issue.

    Thanks majere2sg.

Given that 500D is more expensive than extension tube, why would pple still choose to use 500D? is the additional $$ justified?

One more question... anyone using the sigma 70-200 f/2.8 having any problem using a third party extension tube rather than a sigma extension tube? Thanks.

shot closeup with 70-200 sigma apo ex

    1) + 25 ext (teleplus) + 25 ext + 1.4xtc sigma

    2) + 25 ext + 2xtc teleplus mc7

+ flash on camera hot shoe + 1 slave flash.

    No problem.

Me also thinking of getting a TC. Is the sigma or teleplus tc sharper wide open and at full zoom? so with the 1.4x tc you lose 1 f-stop right?

Thanks dennis for sharing so much info with a newbie... felt like a half-day crash course on photography.
