#2....

What a sight to behold. Again, nice colours and contrast in #2 and #3, lacking in #1.

no post-processing done in #1? cropping also feels too tight in #1. i like #2 best, background is less cluttered but less facial details of the man can be seen, nice contrast between the multitudes of birds and the single man.

then the straight-out-of-camera shots using sup200 (and nikon F80s presumably) look much better than the D70, colour-wise.

Hey quekky, trying to do a "film is better than digital" comparison huh? Here's a challenge... if you really wanna do such a comparison, try shooting with slides on your F80 and post it together with the unprocessed shot of D70 on a similar theme.

Anyway, your second shot isn't really "personal", as you tried to include too many elements in your photograph, and resorted in getting to a slightly taller height than the person is. The effect would be more dramatic if you were to go lower.

Personally, I prefer the first shot to the third shot on two grounds: (1) The crop is tighter, thus eliminated the empty space that's still present in the third shot; and (2) the moment captured on the first shot is more powerful. It's always nicer if a subject were to turn to you when you shoot. However, having said that, I still think you should go back to film, for the colour richness is probably the first thing that come to mind, when people judge whether the picture is good or not...
