Can anyone recomend a good make to start with for a couple of studio lights & where they can be bought (new or second hand). I have tried this site's market place but there seem to be more people looking for studio lights.
Any advice would be much appreciated. |

The more common brands are Bowens and Elinchrome. Normally shops sell them in a set, a set consist of 1 light, 1 light stand, 1 softbox. Budget wise for new ones is about $1.3k for small light (500W or 600W) & $1.8k for large light (1kW). If you want to buy new, you can go to Peninsular Plaza area, Ruby Photo sells Bowens, and Cathay Photo sells Elinchrome. Second hand ones are not easy to find, not many ppl selling.

if you're choosing between a bowens or elinchrom,go for the elinchrom definitely. I've used a number of different brands of lights and the quality of light from elinchroms are just extra special. it's hard to pinpoint why but it's noticeable
