$60 per night can get you some very good hotels already. The Chatuchat area is considered non-prime area so hotels are cheaper, I think $30-40 can already but dont expect high class service. If u really have $60 budget, can try to stay hotel near Sukhumvit Road (the Orchard Road of Bangkok) and take a mrt to Chatuchat market.

Try Asia Hotel - around your budget and great location. Ok, it's a bit rundown now but that what you would expect for around $30US a night.

take a taxi and tell the driver to go to Khao San Road. Its sumthing like a backpackers haven, plenty of caucasian backpackers there. Choose for a place to stay along the road. Plenty to choose. Prices range from SG$9.00/room for 3 pax onwards.. Take a look at the room first b4 committing.

    Have fun!
