Hi All...
Just would like to share with you ppl....on a project (simple one) that i just did over the weekend. I have have been trying to find the right sized material but only stumbled upon one at home....read on and you will know... I have been having a little problem with my Sigma 70-200mm at extreme cases when i used my 70-200 f2.8 lens with teleconverter (1.4x and 2.0x) for landscapes with sun very near the edges. of the lens. The current hood was found to be insufficient - due to the type of pics it take.....There are some occasions where lens flare have wrecked the image.... I have decided to make one home-made hood for use to sovle the above mentioned conditions... Materials needed: - 1 empty can from Cadbury Timeout - this is a special tin-can that has a zipped cover. - 1 sheet of foam sheet (obtainable for Arts shop) - Double Sided Tape... - Black Spray - time and patience Okay here is the pictorial instruction in detail: ![]() If you follow the instruction above...you will be able to arrive at the final product as shown....(Notice the four locations fo the padded foam sheet used as holding points against the original hood) ![]() The before and after photo.... ![]() The setup is mainly aimed to be used at higher focal lengths 200mm and above + added teleconverters..... Do try it out if you have the stuff..... Regards, Sulhan |

Cool stuff! Thanks for sharing. Whats the diameter of the 70-200? I might want to adapt one for my 50-500.

Sulhan, when will you invent some convertor to make all my lenses become f1.4 or better if f1? BTW, the pedal hood is designed to optimize shades for FOV without causing vignetting. In this case, will you long hood cause vignetting at WA end? Cheers! Des |

The main reason for this project was for usage with the 2.0x and 1.4x Nort suitable for wide angle.....70. I Can make one that willl not vignet....then it will look like lamp shade.....use Dumex tin..... rgds, sulhan |
