I have the 24-135. Really good and sharp. Disadvantage is that it is a slow lense.

thanks for the comments guys.

terence: very nice pics. thanks.

jimtong: you are referring to the f/3.5 right? yes i am tempted by the f/2.8 on the sigma. how about the tamron's af speed? does it hunt a lot?

The 24-135's AF is a tad slow and noisy. Focus is quite ok when used on my 10D. It does hunt a little under low light conditions.

I overlook its shortcomings because of its relatively low cost and overall favorable performance (nice and sharp, imo).

Terence, I am very impressive by this photo taken.
May I know how you set the setting and take the shot?

Oh thanks.

Shot with my 10D, 1/200 f5.6, 135mm, 550EX on hotshoe at macro setting.

Just sat in front of my kitchen tap (some people thought it was a glass of champagne). The yellow background is a bottle of MaMa Lemon.

did you waste a lot of water getting that shot?

any idea how the tamron's focusing compares with the sigma or tokina? probably have to find some time to go test out these 3 lenses.

Never tried the other lenses so I can't say for sure. If they are anything like my Sigma 15 FE, I'd say the Tamron is on par.

Took me the whole of 5 mins to catch the shot so not too much water used la... anyways, it's a piece of art, you can't possibly put a price on that can you?

tried the tokina at-x 242af and sigma 24-135. the tokina was quite quiet but the sigma was noisy. the af speed seems quite acceptable to me. the interesting thing about both lenses was that the focusing ring turns as use the af. feels quite of strange to feel something moving as u focus. didnt have the chance to try the tamron 24-135 as both cp and mscolor did not have stock.

Default Sigma

From my understanding, the Sigma lens are very good, optically, but only for the EX series.

Of course, as with all other 3rd pty lens, it is slow and very very very very noisy -for the non-HSM version.

Anyone with different opinions?
