Well... I use my 100mm f2.8 macro for street photography. It is a great lens, reasonably fast and pretty sharp too.

Macro lens isn't exclusive for macro. A 90mm macro lens is still a 90mm lens.

AF in macro lenses tend to be slow. some macro lenses (like Canon's 100mm) have a switch to select the focus range and thereby improve focusing speed.

Yes, focusing the limit, especially since you won't be doing macro street (well, I would think not!), would help with the AF.

That said, I personally find 90mm way too tight for a good street photograph, you would probably end up taking a whole load of street portraits, which by the strictest sense of the definition of street photography (if you're thinking HCB, Trent Parke, etc) - is not street photography.

Hmm... finally get about to read about street photography. Look like what I have tot in the beginning is all wrong. Look like I am to utilise my 28mm more rather than my 100mm.
