if you are a person who always start something and give up halfway, you need to consider whether to take the plunge,

some people open mouth close mouth keep saying got a lot of passion on photography, but in the end MIA faster then those XMM models

anyway, just take it as a hobby and don't be so serious, enjoy.

word of advice: your camera does not matter, your brain does.
you can buy better gear but you can't buy a better eye

use the brain that you already have, then you will know what camera to buy.

TS no need to think so hard lol.Treat it as a hobby. If u dont wanna invest in DSLR yet,get yrself a Pns cam or rent a DSLR & sign up for the various outing available here to get a feel of photography. Before that, work on basic photography/cam theories then apply them in outings.

Start off with a cheap dslr kit if u are unsure.
This hobby can be cheap or very expensive depending on what u want.
    $1k budget is sufficient.

Sometimes its hard not to overspent.cos it doesn't apply to photography alone only......cars,audio,watches & lots more.

A good way to not overspend is to stick with what you have first (e.g kit lens, entry-level body, whatever you got first time) and shoot with it til it dies out. :smilie. Don't think about getting the gear, rather on improving skill. You'll be surprised at how your creativity grows when you're forced to work within the limits of your gear.
a Nikon body, some lenses, a flash, and a whole lot of dusty photos

Pricless, you have to ask yourself - why do you want to take photographs?

There is no right or wrong answer.

If you do decide to start, use a compact P&S. Shoot in Auto. Take many many shots. Share them with your family and friends.
