    Anyway local set for the sigma 150mm is almost $300 more than a grey set, so even if you need pay for calibration, the savings is still there. I bought a local set for fear of af issue but the focus was perfect out of box and that was the only copy I tested. In hindsight, I should had bought grey and send it for calibration because back then calibration was just $80. I really think af bf issue is more likely to happen with larger aperture lens like f/1.4.
    If it's $300 extra, I rather take the risk. Why? Because sigma allows max 2 free calibration per lens where each is $150.

    Yes you can afford to calibrate the lens twice and still have the same price but not to forget, Sigma local warranty is 2.5years compared to the 1 year provided by the shops.

    What are your thoughts on using the Tamron 90mm lens so far?
    Is this lens good enough to capture your macro subjects as you desire?

    Personally, I am currently leaning more towards the Canon 100mm after reading online reviews and such, but I would sure like a personal opinion on this matter
    No comments yet as gonna try out both lens before I exchange to Canon.

    *Guess this thread is helpful ! Hope it helps for you as well

    THANKS GR for the info !

    Anyway, both lens are pretty amazing, you wouldn't go wrong with either one.

    Btw, this is a good read;

    Still not worth loh.. With only one technician in office, I'm not very confident. Tamron gives me nightmare with their one man far far away service center. This is just as similar except location more accessible.

    Testing on the spot saves you tonnes of troubles. 2 sigma I own are tack sharp the first time I tried. Tested another Tamron 90mm for my friend also incredibly sharp.

    You can try the extreme (to me at least). Bring your own laptop to the shop, shoot with the lens, upload your photo to your laptop and see, then open the file and check.
    I am not a photographer, just someone who happened to have a couple of cameras.
