Default Goodbye trusty A1 and hello 20D

At long last, I finally made the decision to purchase 20D and I know the moment I got hold of this new babe, my old trusty A1 will be retired in the dry box.

Well time to embark on a new learning curve.

Now you need the grip. And, you can't buy a used one 'cause the BG-ED3 won't work. And, you have to spend big bucks for the 580EX flash 'cause the old Speedlites (550,420, 380, 220) ....well, don't work right with the 20D.

Welcome to the endless upgrade cycle. But don't worry. The Canon marketing dept. with put a nice spin on everything. Make you real happy to go buy everything again every two years . Enjoy!

The above statement is not exactly correct. As explained in Canon's literature and in numerous threads here and in other forums, 550EX and 420EX flashes work with 20D perfectly as the E-TTL II intelligence is in the camera body and not in the flash. I have the 20D + 420EX combo and they work beautifully. The advantages that the new 580EX flash has over the older ones are higher output, coverage angle adjusted automatically based on 1.6x, 1.3x or FF bodies thus reducing power consumption, WB compensation depending on battery strength, better interface (?), etc.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I must said 20D makes me shoot like as if I am holding a sub machine gun . By the way, is ULEAD a good photo editing software in terms of user friendliness?

jojo I bought the kit set at 2990 and they throw in a spare battery(OEM) for not using the plastic.
