Can you post some examples? How blurry is it?
Was the 1.4 Wide open?

actually in terms of practical use, multipoint or centre better?

Does the D20 try to AutoFocus on the closest item with MultiPoint auto-focus? Unless it is A-DEP Mode I think that's what it might be trying to do.

Generally I just use the Center Focus Point only. Half-Shutter on the subject you want in focus, then just swivel a bit this way or that to compose the shot you want. That might help?

D20 has some special thing with Center Point only focusing as well doesn't it?

*UPDATE:
New 9-Point Autofocus System
The sophisticated 9-point autofocus system has a high-precision cross-type sensor in the center position. This new design seen for the first time in the 20D model provides full cross-type performance with maximum apertures as small as f/5.6, yet it achieves up to 3 times the standard focusing precision when used with EF lenses featuring maximum apertures larger than or equal to f/2.8. A new, convenient Multi-controller provides fast and easy AF point selection.

Melvin, congratulations on coming over to the Canon side. All I would like to say you need to give yourself time to get used to how the Canon AF works. It is very different from your old Nikon cameras.

How about other lenses? People have had focusing problems. Check here:
