Sharp is because i sized it down and used USM. Else if the pic is blur (100%), it wouldn't do any good even if you USM time after time after time, then you get halos.

I think a good way of assessing whether or not the bird is in focus is to look at the pupils when you zoomed in to 100% or camera LCD.

True. But there were also many times wher the pic appear sharp in you camera LCD but when downloaded to the PC, then really no eyes see.

And it doesn't help that the subjects have very detailed naunces all over the body. (feathers)
