Default Photoshop CS Support for Canon 20D RAW

Photoshop CS has just released Camera Raw 2.3 Update which will open and convert 20D's RAW files. Although the 20D is not listed amongst the cameras supported, it will convert RAW fles produced by the 20D.

The update can be downloaded here:

300D raw is already supported.

20D uses the new raw format of .CR2 likes 1D MK 2 and 1Ds MK 2

D30, D60, 10D uses the old .CRW raw format.

I didn't do anything else besides copying the ACR 2.3 file into the File Formats sub-directory of the Plug-In folder. The CR2 raw files open up properly for me.

Just make sure that PS CS is not opened when you are updating the ACR file. If it is, you must close it and reopen again before the latest ACR version could be loaded and used.

Default Dpp

Hi

I opened my Raw files using the bundled DPP software. Works pretty well. Anyone of you use it? How does it compare to PS CS?

A raw file converted to B/W:

Adobe Camera Raw of PS CS is more versatile as there are more parameters that could be adjusted to suit the user's needs. I find DPP to be quite basic in that respect. Also, the adjustments are quite coarse, eg. a little bit of changes in Contrast or Brightness will result in large changes in output levels.

I can open the files, but can't seem to view my 20D raw files on the Photoshop browser, even with the 2.3 update. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Thanks.
