    Default Do u seperate the camera and lens b4 putting in dry box?

    Hi guys, any expert advise on this? If I put the camera with lens attached will it cause fungus in my camera body? Maybe due to the moisture when I mount the lens in open air? I also don't have the habit of changing lens frequently.

    You lens mounting is not airtight, the dry cabinet will dry the inside of the body as well.

    Oh ok. They say that the DSLR and lens is weather seal so I presume that it will be airtight as well.

    if you use the camera often you might not even need to put it in the dry box. but if my camera does get wet(shooting in the rain/wash) then i ll put it in the dry cabinet with the body cap and open all the openable doors for about a day or 2

    i usually don't separate camera & lens before putting into dry box. i don't think the gap between the camera body & lens is air tight. for it to be air tight, i would expect some rubber sealing or something.

    If is were necessary it would be written in the operational manual. Please don't be paranoid about fungus. Search here and read the tons of postings around the topic.

    I separate them ONLY because of maximizing use of cabinet space

    My other cameras with fixed lenses attached are still very clean and these have been in there for years

    Up to u in the end

    It's like sleeping with pajamas , in shorts n t shirt or in the nude .... Whatever u comfortable.

    same here for several reasons:

    1) to maximise the space in my cabinet, as Ed has mentioned;
    2) i interchange my lens for diferent purposes:
    3) i have the habit of cleaning the body and rear element before storing them back in

    Too lazy to separate. But like others, I will do it in order to maximise space.

    most of the time i jus leave the cam and lens attached while in the dry cabinet. i'm assuming its effectiveness wldn't change regardless if i do or do not separate the cam and the lens =]
