Hi guys,
Would like to ask you fellow cs'sers using the Nikon D2H. It concerns the cold weather performance of the EN-EL4 battery. Has anyone used them in cold temperatures like -9 deg C. May be taking a trek up the himalayas and considering buying spare EN-EL4 battery as back-ups. Many thanks for your troubles. |

-10 range should be chicken feat for Li-ion. Even my C5050 with GP 2000mAH survived Soraksan of -19 deg C and Harbin -34, and even full bore skiing conditions with the cam buried under snow. I didn't even care about condensation, anyway what condensation, the air is too damn dry to condense.
I worry more about static electrical discharge.C5050 magnesium alloy. Come to think of it, better than my D70. |

Survived on one battery from 9am to 6pm of fairly intensive usage at temp around 15-20 degrees C. At your low temp of -9, perhaps it might last half a day. This is my own experience, so depends on your shooting intensity and style.
Check with the users in nikonians.org as there should be more cold-weather D2h shooters than here in SG. |
