Default Getting lucky-Male plain-throated Series

Was by the zoo this morning and dropped by MOG to try my luck (I was inspired) at around 3pm. Waited for a while and got lucky with a male plain-throated and a hungry spider hunter. Shutter was very low (~1/60s @ISO800) so casualty about 70%. A few (cropped shots) turn out just nice. Background is a bit plain, if not very! (Did not manage to get a green BG, will try harder next time ).

Plain-throated Seies

Thanks for looking.

Jeff,

That's a very good catch! Rarer than the olive-backed and crimson.

Well done!

Great shots jeff. Very clean background, the color makes is like studio shot. ISO 800 in 20D is very clean, so tempting

Thanks chngpe01, skfoo and Caussway.

I found there was a flock of unidentified birds at MOG too. They were localised high up in the tree by the entrance and were making a lot of noise. Couldn't get a good view of them in the failing light. I do recall one of them flew into the glass panel of the caffeteria and became unconscious .

It's like MOG has become a sanctuary for avians .

Wow....great shots there Jeff...with good detail. Were these cropped or full frame? Good catch of the plain-throated sunbird which I have yet to get there. Like your first shot very much. Good to see you putting your new toy to good use.

Thanks Zplus, jbma and Garion.

Garion, these are cropped shots in jpg format. Guess I'm just lucky with these plain-throated cause would inevitably bump into one at MOG whenever I'm there .

Yap still clumsy with the new toy . But overall it does respond much BETTER than the older one, especially the flash consistency and AF.
