Yes. Pic was taken at Lake Tekapo. You reminded me of the name. I was about to dig out the map. It was a nice rest stop for lunch!

=) its a beautiful place! my first trip to NZ, i had a lunch stop there as well n i thought...alamak...pity cos its such a nice spot! thus, on my 2nd trip, decided to go free n' easy and stayed at the lake for 3 days. were the best few days of my NZ trip. u can go hiking up the hills nearby and just chill out by the lake n watch its colours change from dawn till dusk. STUNNING sunsets there. check out my gallery.
anyway, looks like u had a good trip! |

Madmax.. thanks for the memories.
NZ is such a beautiful place isn't it? Besides the sceneries, I just love the relaxed lifestyle there. Btw, Lake Tekapo is where Mt Cook is also right? |

Lake Tekapo is between Christchurch and Mt Cook. It is just a fabulous place to walk around. NZ is great too! People are courteous and driving was an absolute pleasure. I will definately go there again.

like the first one, thought the people gave it more depth with the effective depth of field. and the people are sorta "paired up" with each bird..

Great attempt Mad...
Just some of my humble observations: Your landscape pictures are a little washed-out. You could either wait for a better light for nicer colours or boost the saturation of your pictures while doing your postprocessing. You might like to try using a polarizer to darken the skies in your pictures. Skies in NZ are typically much bluer than that shown in your images. #4 might look better in a portrait scheme. You might like to think about using fill-flash for #6 to brighten the shadows areas. NZ is a great place... ![]() |

NZ is indeed a wonderful place. Nowadays, the return airfare there is not expensive (probably~ $900). Can just fly to christchurch, get a map, rent a car and drive around. Excellent opportunities to wind down as you drive thru the cantebury plains, see the mountain ranges... can even thrill seek in queenstown. Not to forget excellent photographic opportunities as well. Everything is just perferct there.
Hehe, ok, enough of NZ advertising. The pics I feel do not do justice to the colours that are available in NZ. Most of the shots seem to be abit washed. Perhaps having suitable filters will help. But nice effort nonetheless. Post more picture please. ![]() |

Thanks for your comments.
I did left my CIR polarizer back home! My post processing skills is still bad. . Moreover, my monitor is calibrated with Adobe Gamma. Shows differently in both my monitors back in office and home. Got to buy a hardware calibrator in the near future and borrow some books on PS. |

Cannot say the same for the NZ authorities though if i may. They milked me dry on three occasions:
1) Fine of $200 for bringing in fresh chillies for my dad (even when i said its for personal consumption - its silly but the parents insist)2) Disallowed a rather pricey lens cleaning fluid up an internal flight. 3) A outstanding fine of $120 for supposingly exceeding the speed limit by 15 km/h. I was alleged to be going at 65 in a 50 zone. Still outstanding though. Any experiences with circumventing paying fines in NZ? :P |
