Thread: Patagonia in December

    Default Patagonia in December

I am planning a photo-tour of Patagonia in southern Argentina, based on the encouragement of some friends who went there recently.

    December will be summertime there.

The free-and-easy tour will cover Perito Moreno Glacier, Mount Fitzroy, Torres del Paine, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego National Park, cruise of the Beagle Channel, etc. From the photos I have seen by just googling, the region is indeed very photogenic and extraordinary.

I have been quoted a 13 day tour costing around US$2,500 (for twin-sharing in a 3-star accommodation) or US$3300 (for single) for a 13D tour, starting from Buenos Aires. This price excludes international airfares. As contingency, add US$1000-1500 for meals, taxis, entrance tickets to parks, boating, etc. Even with return fares from Singapore to Buenos Aires, the total cost would still be much cheaper than those quoted by Singapore tour operators. An optional tour will be to Iguazu Falls, supposedly one of the largest in the world.

Unfortunately, my wife is unable to join me so, if anyone is interested to join me, you can PM me and I will send you a detailed itinerary. I understand a bit of Spanish, so this will help when travelling in this Spanish-speaking country.

I do not want to generalize too much but yes, Patagonia is arguably one of the most beautiful places for landscapes - complete with snow-capped mountains, glaciers, lakes, greenery, all in one region. One of my dream destinations, and I'm glad to have witness it.
Here's some of my blog entries on it :

Highly recommended, and to give it justice, I hope you don't rush through it....

I've visited your blogs. You have captured spectacular views! You've reaffirmed my ambition to see Patagonia. I do hope I can get a companion, esp from Singapore. There's nothing like seeing the scenes in company.

Perhaps you should also see Patagonia from the Chilean side. Singaporeans can enter Chile for one month as a tourist. Possible visit to the Galapagos islands also? hee hee....

Yes, three nights in Chile, based in Punta Arenas. However, a side tour to Galapagos Islands will extend the tour beyond Christmas, so no go this time.

Good choice. I almost went to Punta Arenas the last time I was there but I didn't.
