    I don't think many other models/brands can match this price for a carbon fibre tripod, plus a good quality ballhead My Gitzo tripod cost me $750, just the legs w/o ballhead or quick release plate, no carry bag either...

    I saw a Giottos 8255 tripod at Takashimaya Best Denki... it is a pretty solid piece yet relatively light.
    They sell at $468 I think (dun quote me)... not sure how it differs from the 8254

    As they saying goes.. the cheap pay twice.
    The super cheap like me paid 4 times already.

    8255 has 5 section legs while 8254's legs have 4 sections, that's the only difference. But make sure it's the newer VGRN tripod. The earlier one is VGR version. Not much difference but the newer one has 7-layer carbon fibre in the legs, and probably some other minor improvement ...
