I think if we were to use wide angle lens to get portraits and candid shots, a pns would be better?

I find myself switching to wider focal lengths as time goes by. I did alot of 50mm, then slowly it went wider to 35mm and now I usually prefer the 25-28mm on my tammy.

The best thing is to dont think so much, just shoot. No pain no gain!
    yea just shoot!

Erm, when it comes to shooting street, being shouted at, being chased at is all part of the "dangers". Very normal.

I shoot streets with a 11-16mm or 28mm. No worries. Just give a big smile. If they say no, nod and walk away.

Try to take without them noticing. After the first few (stolen shots) if they notice you, ask if you can continue.

    Actually I got my 28mm f2.8 at S$320 ... $10 cheaper than Bonya...

For street shots, sometime it help by pointing in a general direction. Anyone who get in the frame is his/her problem... and it can yield some pretty interesting shots too.

(of course I would have edit away that arm... but I am too lazy to do it)

Or hide behind a door or something, wait for the correct moment, squeeze your shutter just in time for something to happen,

personally, i have only used 2 types of lens for street/candids:

    1) ultra wide angle
i can point in a direction and the person beside won't even know he/she is captured in the frame

    2) telephoto (e.g. 70-200)
    stand far far and shoot.
even if tio caught and come running after me, i will have a better chance of getting away since i'm much further.

if i were to use 30mm prime, must make sure i can outrun the subject if he/she gets pissed.

Joking lah, no need to feel bad. Anyway, I just bought my lens a few days back... shoot close to a hundred shots with it liao. Like it alot... and seriously not as noisy as I thought it would be in the beginning.

I think 28mm f2.8 lens is very well suited for street photography, wide enough, fast enough and pretty sharp too... of course it was not 'L' built but it was light so can carry around easily... wouldn't put a strain on my old back.

I love the image quality of the lens. wanted to regret my impulse buy but that didn't turn out too well. its permanently mounted besides my 90mm. Hehe

Uncle rhino got a bad back..? Must take care.. agree with you. Don't need 24mm f1.4.
