Default Purple Heron (SBWR 19092004)

1 purple heron spotted, route 2.

Time was 0745, damn hazy so quite a lot of PS work done to the pics, it didn't help that i was shooting into the direction of the sun so the mist really got reflected.....so might look a bit funny.

Oei, which bugger threw such a big plastic bag into the sea? Must have floated and got stuck there.

Aiyah no EXIF.... Shooting data is around 1/50-1/100, f8-f11, ISO 200 or 400.

Good catch there of this rather elusive and shy creature. Most of the time the purple herons are spotted hunting singly, though there have been reports of a small heronry at Singapore Zoo some time back. Dunno if they are still there.

The plastic bag and other trash seems relatively common at Sungei Buloh, have spotted such flotsam around the banks of Sungei Buloh Besar river, though its not to an extent of environmentally threatening, its still an eyesore to see it from time to time.

Is that the only purple heron spotted? I also saw one two weeks back when I went to Karanji. Might be the same one.

Yeah, better glass would have helped tremedously. Look at my exif, the shutter. Primes would mean able to use TC + shooting at bigger apertures. Actually I do know of a way down to the swamp for this area to get closer by sneaking up (somemore low tide sia) but since it's a shy species i don't think i will ever make it (besides it's against the SBWR rules right?). It was standing perched there for 15mins before deciding to take a walk, all the while begging to be snapped.
