Default Buying camera or lens in HK

Hi! Just to check with you people, where should I go in HK if I want to get camera or lens? Is it cheaper there? Any international warranty from HK? Thanks!

There is a very good write up in our Consumer Corner Forum:

    http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/threa...Shopping-Guide

I am sure it is comprehensive enough.

Another location you can buy is from Malaysia... but note that any set bought overseas might not be covered in the warranty in Singapore (brand dependent) and was consider a grey set. This is especially true from Canon camera.

Nikon lenses and flashes all have international warranty, only the body is local warranty so not so bad. Heard that the third party manufacturers stopped their international warranty recently.

If u do a search.. .. just check US. HK. or any other country.. just the 2 mentioned.. are already 20-30% (or higher) cheaper than SG price..
IMO.. its not reasonable at all.

Not necessarily, US prices are not cheaper than in Singapore and did you even see the UK prices?

I think the margins are fat in Singapore...hk prices are better due to competition.

Don't forget the 7% GST. One of the biggest reasons why Singapore is no longer the shopping haven it used to be.

In the past Malaysians come to SG to shop. Now, Singaporeans go to Malaysia to shop.

Went to HK and scouted some prices there. Rule of thumb is to avoid large franchises. and to know you're looking for. Don't go there to just shop.
