    manual flash settings, wireless sync.

if ur using manual flashes, the max sync u can ever get is something like 1/250 at best.

the trick to lighting ppl using flash isnt to jump straight on into firing the flash...

first, u use camera, meter for the ambient lighting. normally i'll just meter the background instead of the subject.

next, using the settings (iso, shutter speed, aperture), i go for my flash power +zoom.

so... normally my settings go something like this. for example only, probably not accurate.

bright day light: iso 200 (i like the native format), shutter speed 1/160, f5.6

flash is affected by the iso, aperture, distance from subject to u. slowly adjust ur flash power settings to fill up ur subject until just nice...

on the other hand, just get a digital flash from ur own brand with its own flash metering system lo. at most get a ttl wire to go with the flash...

But although flash is not affected by shutter speed, like you said it does limit you on what speed you can use. So how to deal with daylight shots where you usually have high shutter speeds? Or is 1/160 fast enough for daylight? I had shots at 1/800 at ISO100 already, which is like +2EV from 1/160. Dialling down aperture that much doesn't seem like a good trade-off.

Anyway, I guess I'll find out for myself later. lol

yep. i'll dial down aperture cause thats what u are really left with...

or else u can use NDs infront of filter and then up ur flash power. but honestly... u gonna need a lot of flashes to get back that power hahahaha

Was afraid you'd say that lol. I did read about ND filters, but I don't wanna introduce another variable to the equation yet before I understand what I was doing. Thanks. Should fix my indoor flash shots at least, hahaha.

hahaha well... easier to think abt it this way...

what thing will not change? (or will not change as fast): ambient lighting. u settle that first.

what thing do i need to add to make subject brighter? flash

do in 2 parts. shld save u time

1st time experimenting with sunset filters, no idea on how it should be since i rarely see examples on the use of it.

Agree it's too orange on the top, maybe i shouldn't have stacked the ND8, or this is expected for Tianya quality?
