if this is going to be the future,
all fast focusing bodies and lens are no longer needed.
Set camera to mf, and snap on!

    Agree.

As for the tripod. Just make sure your bag is hooked on your tripod you should be quite safe. Sirui FTW, Gitzo for the rich

No it won't. It will take more time to display the result though.. Anyway.. if this goes through, it will revolutionized the photography industry. Not just camera maker, but professional photographer as well. Newbies don't have to learn all that focusing and exposure rubbish Just compose and click

I see it differently...it's true that one may not need to learn those focusing...But exposure once off (severely over/under exposed), it's still hard to recover those details. But also at the same time, it may even trigger some creative thoughts during PP. But it kinda blows the fun of learning it the hard way.

The thing is.. plenoptics / light field technology requires you to shoot wide open.. think of it as fixed or no aperture factor. The camera only need to adjust shutter and ISO latitude. And if you shoot RAW, how hard can it be?

I'll reserve my comments till this cam hits the market since there is too little information about what this camera can deliver at an affordable price

Check up their website and view the video. You can choose which parts or all the image to ve in focused. Real cool. Price is between $US 1 to USD 10,000. Haha. Go lytro.com

just keep in mind that they use 256 photo sites to create 1 pixel, so if you use a 12MB sensor you end up with... a very small picture 47kb! now how you gonna blow that up to 5R?
