Well, if you take a portrait with a 100mm prime (for example), and then try to replicate it with a 50mm prime by walking much closer to the subject, the result will be different.

Changing the camera-subject distance alters the perspective.
    Exploring! :)

    I am a newbie.

This being a "newbie" section, I hope the "seniors" would be patient with us here.

Got the same lens as TS about 6 months back. As one who used those disposal bulbs, 35mm films in P&S cameras about 30 years ago, I find myself back to familiar territory. I like the experience taking photos, and its fixed focal length that forces me to move around more to frame the picture.

Will be looking to try out other lens to understand this hobby more.

thanks for all the positive comments from all of you (minus the 2).Hahaha this newbie segment is really great and fortunate to have helpful people like you all, who take the patience to help out.

have mounted the 50mm and went out and shoot. pretty happy with the results, just that at time, quite hard to get to the point i want to snap. like the rocks configuration under a bridge, etc

u use 50 mm f1.8 is becoz its fast and at 50mm it is distortion free. you use a zoom lens is not becoz u bring subject closer to u, but to change from a wide angle perpective to a compressed perpective.

Actually it's not the zooming that changes the perspective, but the camera-subject-background distances.
