You are offered the job at the end of the interview, you tell me them that you will take two days to consider the offer. 2 days later, you call them up to accept the offer and the interview tells you, "sorry, we have found someone else and we would like to withdraw the job offer". Well, this has happened to me twice this year. One said- "The job requires you to carry heavy files and so we think you will have trouble. We think you will also have other problems, but she refused to say what they are". I told her that I rejected another job just because I wanted to accept this one and all she said was sorry. The other case was earlier this year, I called back to speak to her and asked her if she was free to take the call. She told me that she would call later in the day. I waited after 5 pm and I figured that she was very busy to call me back, so I decided to write an e-mail to her. I asked a few questions and also that I wanted to accept the job. The next morning, I read my e-mail and she said: "Sorry, we have found someone else". Subsequently, I wrote back and probed more. I found out that this was a case of miscommunication on her part as she thought I said I would like to consider was a polite way of saying no to the job offer. All she said was sorry. 2 days the ad came out again in the ST.
Has this happened to you? What is wrong with the employers of today? Taking 2 days to consider a job is reasonable isn't it? I heard that someone even called the interviewer after 2 days to request an extension to consider and this was granted. I have written to MOM and am awaiting their reply. What else can I do? Write to the ST? These employers should be highlighted to the public, but how?
