Can truly master one type first then say. Or else, just do a little bit if everything to train.

Even the true masters also dare not admit they are masters of the subject...

    A master is a master.

no need get out of bed photography... hmmm... i think the kind discussed not good for those with pre-existing heart condition.

i suggest.... abstract shots of your ceiling.

really don't need get out of bed

so far i see a number talking about landscape and macro... what is the basic investment cost for each?

    estimates anyone?

For macro, can be very cheap, can be very expensive.

Cheap - Close-up filter, extension tube or reverse lens + on-board flash + DIY Diffuser

    Expensive - Nikon 200mm f4, Canon 180mm f3.5 L + MT-24/R1C1 + Gitzo Explorer

i think both depends on how much you willing to spend to get the desired output

for landscape, kit lens and a tripod should suffice to start.
as you go deeper, UWA lens and ND filters will be on the BBB list

for macro, need at least a close up filter/extension tube/macro lens?

how much have YOU sunk in, in pursuit of your love for macro?

reminds me of the warning my friends gave me when I first started photography... "it's a black hole"

i recall naively telling them i will hold on to my d5000 forever and ever, that it's more than enough.

    and now....

    .... i know better

"WHY SPEND SO MUCH $ EVERY OTHER NIGHT GO SHOOT COLOURFUL COCKROACHES?!"

(no offence to all the macro community whose skills i respect very much)

Not really. My mum thinks I'm nuts for waking up at 6am every Saturday/Sunday morning to shoot insects though

things parents or wife or loved ones might say to...

    ... the macro shooter:
"stay at home shoot the cockroaches lor. after that please help to kill and dispose."

    ... the street shooter:
"everyday loiter around shoot strangers very fun meh? next time I stalk you around the house lah."

    ... the XMM shooter:
"why you don't shoot me? "

i think my dad's pretty emotional about my photography. everytime i get back from a shoot... he'll look at the pictures of the pretty girls and weep.

then he'll start telling me that he regretted not taking up photography

the strobist is a very shy animal. when you approach him/her, walk slowly, and try not to startle them.

when they are startled, they turn their strobes on you and hit you at full power, blinding you and then scamper away into the darkness.

their favorite places are botanic gardens, clarke quay and hotel rooms.

they fill their hunger by looking at XMMs and suck their lifeforce out. the lesser the clothes, the more ravenous they get.
