    Default can't decide between epl1,epl2 and xz-1

Hi guys, i just got interested in photography i am going to buy a camera at the itshow, but i cannot really decide between the above 3 cameras, can anyone tell me if the epl2 is worth the extra 300 over epl1? and if the epl1 and xz-1 have the same price which is a better buy. I like taking landscape shots.

    thanks

    Hi,
It's generally not advisable to buy from IT shows..
Crowd is horrible + price is not that attractive..
Take a look at the price guides section..
There are recommended shops where you can get better deals, minus the crowd..
    Happy shopping

How much research have you done comparing the 3 cameras? What is your budget? Whether a camera and its features is worth the additional money is something only you can answer.. because you need to weight whether the features will be useful to you.

    not the same class..
epl1/2 are micro 4/3 and xz1 is high end pns..

IMO.. get epl1/2 for their better IQ..

If TS had zoomed in on either EP-L1/ L2 or XZ-1. I would surely recommend the EP-L1. It is going at a cheaper price now as compared to the EP-L2.

The m43 sensor in the EPL-1 is massive compared to the 1/1.63" XZ-1 sensor.

The EPL-1 is a much much better camera.

between the 3, I would opt for EPL1, but ultimately it is YOUR buying decision

Maybe you'd like to share with us:

    1) How you came to shortlist these few cameras
    2) What are the differences (to you) between these 3 models
    Exploring! :)

    hmm hi guys,

    1) my friend has an epl2, i was playing around with it the whole day the other day and found it really easy and nice to use and the photo quality are great too so i was deciding between epl1,epl2 already. then i saw the newspaper on wed/thurs mentioning that xz-1 is one of the best compact cams around now and yeah. so i was just sort of thinking about it

    2) epl1, epl2 not much different except for the design and the 300 dollars ._. i read somewhere that image quality is the same.

The size of the image sensor makes a noticeable difference to the image quality, is what I think.
If you compare sensor sizes online, you'll see that the sensor on EPL1 and EPL2 is MUCH larger than the one on the XZ1.
Add to that the fact that EPL1 and EPL2 allow you to swap lenses.

Please note that there is a minor issue with the anti-alias filter on the sensor of the EP-L2. When shooting in high contrast situations with bright smaller points of light sources, it gives the "red dots" problem. So if you forsee shooting a lot at night with lights or into the sun often, go for EP-L1.

Plus the L1 is cheaper and the sensor itself is the same as L2 IIRC.
