    i have a D3100 ....how do i show the camera's screen on the laptop ?

    I think probably he meant by Live View Tethering or something similar...*cannot be sure of it*

    ya something like a live view tethering ....meaning whatever is shown on the camera's screen can also be seen on the laptop screen

    I think this is limited to the image captured by the sensor. The settings dialogs will not be shown on the laptop but the tethering software will offer similar functions.

    Canon's EOS Utility allows you to save images onto the CF card as well as tethering images to the computer very useful.Back in film days
    polaroids were the order of the day. How things have changed since then.

    I'm not sure if a basic, entry-level model like that would support live view tethering.

    TS, if you want to review the shot on a laptop screen immediately after capture (tethering), it should be easier to achieve. Software like Adobe Lightroom 3 can do it.

    But LiveView tethering might be more troublesome. Never really tried it though.
