don't forget the Sony A55 - 10 FPS, built-in IS, same sensor as the K-5 and D7000, fast AF in liveview and video. Cheapest of the whole bunch too.

But seriously - we have a "What DSLR to get?" FAQ for a reason. It gives many tips on how to choose the right DSLR for you.

If you actually read the FAQ, you would know that getting user's personal feedback is pointless. You need to hold and test the cameras for yourself.

Come on... Canon user and lover will say Canon is best, Pentax's will say Pentax is better, Nikon's will do the same... plus whoever tell you that D7000 has poor video mode and Pentax is has better IQ?

My point of view is, all of them are equally good. Pentax and Nikon might fare better with noise because they have slightly bigger sensor.

And I am surprise that you did not throw in Sony into the mix since Sony manufactured the sensor for both Nikon and Pentax (I think).

Plus this type of who vs who would normally end up in a brand war, which seriously I don't know what you wanted to accomplish after that... except to get yourself more confuse.

    you are right and wrong,

yes i agree to a certain extent. We can know the camera if we get hold of the camera and test ourself. know the bad and good points.

no, i disagree. We will not have to luxury to test 3 cameras in a shop, with each camera testing all the functions which is time consuming, the shop owner will kill us.
also, something we also need to test outdoor, cannot possibly bring the camera out of the shops right. The best way to test all the 3 camera is to rent it for few days, but that will be costly.

hence the best way is to ask for feedback.

Every shop I've been to so far lets me test for as long as I want to. Of course, I only go to our recommended shops.

Renting is CHEAP compared to buying.

Disagree. As Rhino123 said: "Canon user and lover will say Canon is best, Pentax's will say Pentax is better, Nikon's will do the same..."

you may be wrong as not all canon user will say canon is the best, same for Pentax and Nikon.

why i say Pentax K-5 has better IQ than Nikon D7000, you can refer to the link in the first post. Why D7000 video not so good, i read from somewhere, will post the link if i manage to find.

Disagree. As Rhino123 said: "Canon user and lover will say Canon is best, Pentax's will say Pentax is better, Nikon's will do the same..."
some shops will give a kind of black face if test one camera for too long, and we are now talking about testing 3 cameras.

disagree, renting is not cheap, it cost over $120(estimated) to rent a camera for 2-3 days, renting 3 cameras will cost around $400. Definitely will not buy a camera just for testing which makes no sense right.

as for what Rhino said, already answer that question.

So... what type of real feedback are you looking for?

I personally had experience with 7D (owned one) and loved it. Fabulous video, image and speed. I played with my bro's D7000, loved it too, great image, good low light quality, easy to use video (excellent quality too), smaller than 7D and lighter.

I have never played with K-5, but from reviews, it seemed like a good camera. So there... confusing enough?

Oh... one more thing... K-5 and D7000 shared the same sensor (http://ricehigh.blogspot.com/2011/02...-is-there.html)

So how come K-5 sensor is better, this is something that I do not know.

Plus... seriously, D7000 movie is great. It's autofocus during movie mode might not be top notched but usable and seriously you do not really need this ability (7D didn't have and I have made quite a few good clips).

Finally to just use DXOmark on whether a camera is better than the other is way off... those test are done in lab. In real life, things might be a bit different.

I agreed though that you say some user (Canon user, Nikon user or Pentax user) might not say good thing about the particular camera they are using... that is why I included the word 'lover'.

I hope this feedback is real enough for you.

Erm... do you know that the K-5, D7000 and Sony A55 all uses the same exact sensor?

Since you are asking this question, it shows u are not a regular/season dslr user. At this price point, all the 3 are good. All 3 perform on similar level. Do read up on each pros and cons and head to the camera shop to try them out. Hands on experience beats asking for opinion.

What is this 'good image quality, excellent image quality ..' nonsense? Have you read the reviews and compared results in jpg and RAW files? have a careful look at www.dpreview.com. DxOmarks can also give some input, although this is purely the sensor performance and not 100% relevant in real life.

It's the weaker AA filter on the sensor.

To add on from what I left off...

    This is from http://news.cnet.com/8301-30685_3-20022164-264.html

However, it's clear that there is plenty of new competition coming. Nikon's new D7000, for example, has a dynamic range of 13.9 and largely matches the K-5 through much of its ISO range. Notably, the sensor in Nikon's cheaper D7000 scores 80 on DxO's tests. Those tests, it should be noted, only measure the sensor, not countless other important camera details such as price, autofocus, lens and accessory selection, durability, performance, and user interface.
So by merely reading the DXOlab report does not really proof too much. And yes, K-5 might fare better in those test, but there are other factors that determine the image quality.

If you are just interpreting from those test chards... well by all means, K-5 is the best camera there is in that price range... other cameras are all into the dumpster.
