I brought my camera out for 2 - 3 weeks without drybox, still okay. I don't think you need your drybox for just 1 week unless the place you are going is extremely humid or there is chances of your camera getting wet.

You don't need to pamicky pack your cam into any dry box when not using for 5min. Dry cabinet and boxes are for long term storage. Keep your cam well used, put on open shelf when not used. Enough.

Strongly agree with the all the bros' comments. Our cameras are built to last and a week or two out is actually what our cameras beg us to do.

But if it nags you and you're that 'overkill' type of person, you can bring those cheap, virtually weightless 25-dollar dry boxes, cram it in your luggage, and stuff it with fragiles such as colognes, sealed food and what-have-yous. That way it won't take up so much space.

Just a little bit of peace of mind for you. Hope it helps.

It is usually fine without dry box for a week but it depends entirely on the environment you are bringing it to. If it is going to be wet and humid, you can just bring a ziploc and an electronic silica dryer.

Shouldn't be an issue for 1 week...brought mine out for ~2 weeks and it got slightly wet under the Niagara falls and still working fine and nothing "growing" out of it.

Same here, I traveled through Asia, 3..4 weeks the camera only in the camera bag. It did perfectly fine.

I've done a couple of months in very humid weather also ok. Remember in hotel room where it is air-conditioned will be like a dry cab. Any air con room will be dry.

Should be ok.. Don't worry so much (even though I will) pack some silicone chips if you're feeling paranoid. And try not to store it in the bathroom.

I seriously doubt anything bad is going to happen to the camera even if you leave it out for a year. They didn't make cameras just for fungus to grow on. Just look at point and shoot cameras, day in day out in some bag, used in the rain and yet they still work fine. If DSLRs were so prone to fungi they wouldn't be advertising weather resistance but more on fungi resistant =/

if u scared about fungus... u can buy silica gel and throw on your bag..
i travel to some of humit country (Indonesia, Malay, Thai for more than 1 week)
but so far no fungus is coming...as long as u dont put your camera outside under the rain.....

Wasted money, the bag is not airtight and humidity will come in through the fabric. Zero effect.

You can try using a ziploc bag. But seriously, I don't think you need any of the stuff as long as you keep your rig clean and dry and use it often.
    Happy shooting.
