Since (from reviews on many independent websites) all four versions of the Canon 70-200mm are of almost equal (very good) optical IQ, be it F2.8 or F4, having IS is a bonus. A good bonus to have. It's there when you need it. Just don't activate it when mounted on a solid support.

I would advise before you buy it, go rent and see the IS version is of any help.

As for taking photo in low light, I believe f2.8 come in more handy then the IS, it is good to have a tripod or a monopod, if you don't mind to carry it, there isn't a need to buy the more ex. IS lens.

But this bonus is depending on how deep is your pocket, since TS is only considering either F4 Is or F2.8 non IS, and there is chance for him to take in low light. I will rather forget about the IS and get F2.8 non-IS + a monopod.

My advise is... buy what ever you find is enough and nothing more... or all those extra will be wasted.

Since you have a monopod and a steady hand, my personal opinion is that it should be enough.

since you already owned a monopod, I doubt you need a IS lens. Save the money and go buy other stuffs.

Here is a link to a site that has test chart shots for many Canon lenses
    http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R....aspx?Lens=404

If budget is no issue, certainly a 70-200/2.8 for the additional DOF control and faster aperture.

Personally I own a 70-200F2.8IS first before getting the 135F2. One thing I miss while using the 135 is the IS function of my 70-200. Using a monopod would help but it also would slow you down..

6338 5905 / 6338 7466 (taken from TK facebook page), and as suggested by Irvine, you can request for quote from their facebook site too, but I have some experience with them and they are not very fast or frequent replier.

My experience is that they have never answered any of my quotes on FB before.

It wasn't a one time thing but at least 5 times over different periods. Not sure how are they selecting the people to answer.
