Question Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VC or no VC, which one better?

Recently i'm planing on buying my 4th lens. And is thinking of buying the 17-50mm f2.8, since i hate using flash but there is a VC and a Non VC variant...

    Which would you choose?

Cos i saw many getting the non VC variant but is ok for low light condition? Cos most of the time I'm taking events, mostly indoor. Might even use it for concert.

Does the VC really make so much of a difference? Cos I almost don't any in my 18-270 with VC

Or is there any other alternative?

    please advise, thanks!

the non-VC is said to be sharper than the VC version. since u will be shooting in indoor events, why not get a flash to go with ur current setup instead?

You don't really need VC for 50mm

Ok, I already have a flash DI622MII but I really don't like using flash.

the basic rule of thumb to cancel handshake is to shoot at shutter speeds at 1/focal length. so at 50mm u haf to shoot at 1/50s or faster, which is pretty easy to achieve with the wide f/2.8 aperture in indoor events, unless it's really darn dark.

why so? if u actually know how to use it properly (eg bounce techniques etc), u can get pretty decent n natural looking results with their faces properly lit.

If hand always shake... even with IS or VC or OS, it would be no use at all. Best is use a tripod then.

When taking Candid... it's very intrusive... ... especially like during interviews.

TS, i wanna correct my own statement here, it will not totally cancel handshake blur but it will reduce the amount of handshake blur. to further reduce handshake blur u also have to improve on ur handheld technique.

Yes i understand, since even with VC, a shaky hand can still render it useless.

In the good old days there were no VC, IS or SSS and we still get good sharp pictures
