My A1 hanged yesterday too but it was after my shooting when I switched to replay mode before it can finish writing but lucky the photos are okay. Looks like a common issue for all Minolta digital cams.

I experienced Z3 hanging once or twice when changing modes, between EVF, LCD and Playback, or right after taking a picture. At one time it gives "System Error" then switches off.

The only way to get it functioning again is to take out then put back the batteries--very ugly. The date & time is reset, damn!

I didn't play too much attention then but seems like this happens when batteries are low

Same problem happened with my Z3. Believe it or not, I had the camera exchanged 3 times within 1 day when I first bought mine because of this problem. Sad to say, the problem still exists with the current one I am using. Just hangs or says System Error (only once in a while). Only way is to open battery compartment to reset camera. Imagine 3 out of 3 defective cameras, that's 100% failure. Shame on KM Quality Control.

No point checking with KM because the technicians also NOT SURE why this is happening . All they can say is send it in for checking (What they do with your new camera is anyone's guess). At least, I have called them to let them know this is happening (63378880). Hopefully, they will feedback to KM Japan (for a solution).

Suggest using a different SD card or check for new firmware to be released by KM.

Anti-Shake may be the cause. Over-Heat....Managing the anti-shake not only helps to conserve batteries but also prevents hangs.

Told today by KM S'pore that new firmware version 1.01 available for Minolta Z3. You can bring your Z3 to Minolta S'pore at Funan Centre Level 4 for update. Hope this fixes the Hang problem. (To check your Z3 Firmware Version - goto Setup Screen 1 and then press the Macro button)

Anyone with version 1.01 or later and still having problem with the Z3?

Luckly Z2 is ok, no such problem.

Sounds like Nokia handphone. Everytime new model with new functions will have some problems, the later batches will be better as they will improve on it.

Lesson? Never buy electronic stuff when it's very new! Wait for people to buy and get reviews from them.

But, if everyone waits for everyone to buy and test first, nobody will be buying! Haha.

Well think KM really dint do a proper job.. with such a rush move and come up with the Z3, jus a few month after the Z2 was launched... (reason could be cos of the Canon S1 IS)
Thou the Z3 got an impressive features n functions.... back to basic every consumer still prefer a proper good built DCam so tat they dun hav to visit the service centre so often or even.. loss the precious best shot ...

One eg is like nokia phone..used to be the best phone eg the models before 8210... but after tat... all the models hang like crazy

Wait for more comments from people here and from Dpreviews and maybe Minolta might improve on it.

Then the price will drop and you can buy a good cam with lower price. But if you can't wait, then buy lor.
