Thread: best place for a graduation shoot?

Default best place for a graduation shoot?

    Hello guys!

I'm looking to do a graduation shoot for my friends, and currently sourcing for good locations.

other than the common places (e.g. esplanade/SBG/hort park/fort canning), are there any other unique places that we can go to? preferably near historic sites with a strong taste of nostalgia but not limited to that group. (hopefully accessible by public transport too)

we will be coming out early to catch the golden light

    keep the suggestions coming! Thanks!

some ideas for you, taken from my uni website (Monash)

(During convention, this angle very hard, unless someone can shoot from a higher level)

(I particularly like this one personally)

It seems that the old supreme court is under reno... Is there anywhere with that kind of background/atmosphere?

i've worked on a few graduation assignments before and my advise is ..... work with light + bokeh i.e. 50mm onwards up lenses + something wide .... its not a magic formula but it works very very well

Alot of graduation photos end up framed and in very promininent places in people's homes..... display cabinet, on top of pianos, bookshelves etc etc etc ....... you are NOT shooting photographs .......... you are shooting significant achievements and parents' and personal pride ..... you are shooting a milestone in a person's life

Truly from personal eperience...... apart from a few MUST HAVE icons (High Court, University Lawn etc etc) , nobody really cares about the flowers in the background

If proud parents, friends and relatives are coming along ..... please DEMAND that they dress up appropriately for the shoot too

These photos will most likely not sit in an photo album ............ they will likely be showcased in prominent places in homes

Create your images with that objective in mind........ you will not go wrong
