Default D.I.Y. water proof your camera and lens

It happen to me at the rally just now when it starts to pour, although my camera and lens are splash proof, sadly the sky juice was a bit too much for me.

Beside buying those special made water proof items for camera. Does anyone do any interesting D.I.Y. to keep the equipment out of the rain in minimum?

Also do not hang your camera from your neck when going to the toilet.

The vertical jet of salty hot water will corrode your lens and camera body.

A spec of sand or a strand of hair is all it can take to undo a housing. A friend's camera found out the hard way.
