Default Driftomania at Queensland Raceway

Drift : V. drift-ed, drift-ing, drifts
To control a vehicle off axis to the intended direction of travel, whereby the angle does not exceed the driver's ability to maintain full control.

There was one last year at Sentosa - the organizers brought in a professional Japanese driver Manabu Orido (who judges D1 drifting in Japan) to demonstrate drifting in some local guy's heavily modified AE86 Levin.

The guys typically drift with old-almost-bald tires, they bring two or three extra pairs (chuck them in the boot and backseat), and use common sizes usually around 15 inchers.

Its not a GT-R, its a GTS-T, GT-Rs are four wheel drive, quite expensive, and don't drift as well as the GTS-T.

No Sil80s in the pictures above either but here's a Sil80:

Amazing shots!
A true action series! Noticed that those pics with smoke bring out the speed of the car better.

Thumbs up

does drifting mean going forward at an angle? like sliding or something..

nice panning shots. the cars in the photo remain super sharp.

Heya. No, I never did stop shooting - I was shooting even on my flight down to Brisbane - a camera, GPS, mobile phone, street directory, and my wheels are what I pack when I get about around here, but I get around a fair bit too by bike, very bike friendly city relative to Singapore.

Amusingly I found my way to the track first by following a car obviously going drifting, then the tire tracks it left behind on Cunningham Highway when it began fishtailing, and finally an SUV that had a trailer full of tires that I managed to tag onto.

I'm now living in St. Lucia, studying in Gatton, so I'm not a stranger to travelling lots.

My camera was set for ISO 100, I shot in shutter priority or manual mode, set to around 1/125s or 1/180s, F8 to F11 depending on conditions. Focus was continuous due to the moving subjects. I shot at the 200mm focal length most of the time too. White balance was sunny, but I did more tweaking in postprocess to get the colours looking right.
