Just thinking, will any 550EX users sell off their flash to get the 580EX?

will be getting the 20d
as it will be my 1st dslr, might as well get the whole set for full compatibility... 20d+580+cpe3.... i figure the whole package will come up to near 4k? hopefully the 17-80 is bundle, if not then budget will have to increase... probably will hold on to my eos30 & 550 as backup, can play with multi flash too... probably will have to jetison my cpe2 and ef24-85 any news when they will be available? or can we order now? thanks |

i most likely will skip 20d.
So no point getting 580ex whereas the new features can only work on 20d and 1d mkII (after firmware upgrade). |

I hope none of us here are getting a 20D or even 1D MkII so that you can make use of the exclusive features on 580EX ...

i will buy it! i like the dial better than pressing buttons! for faster flash recycling! i dun spend $200+ on the battery pack, i think the flash will not cost a 550+battery pack right?
hell i get 2 if the price is abt $600, that just me. ![]() |

2 for event photography, 1 use, 1 backup 3 for indoor product photograpghy, 1 main, 1 fill, 1 for colour filters if needed or highlights. no space for the studio lights, so must make do la, just sell off my existing ex550s to fund and get more jobs. |

Canon's new Speedlite 580EX flash and Compact Battery Pack CP-E3 will be available in October for estimated selling prices of $479* and $220*, respectively. *in USD$, that's S$820+ & S$376+, hopefully that is the retail price but not street price Still wanna get two sets? ![]() Last edited by Wai; 23rd August 2004 at 03:56 AM. |

Really envy some of you guys... Got newer models just upgrade... I suppose you do earn from your craft?
I thot the 550EX at close to $600 is already a shocker for a flash... Have to admit it's built like a tank though. It's the L equivalent for Canon flash! But if the 580EX costs S$820 or anywhere near that price, then I think it's way too much. For me, an enthusiast, at least. Can get a digicam or good lens at that price already! |

My guess is that it will cost about $60 to $100 more over here, compared to the 550EX.
Can't wait! |
