Default Price of 70-200 IS f/2.8?

Hi,

Just a price check with you Canon guys... is $2450 (w/o GST) a good price for a grey (but new) 70-200 IS f/2.8 lens?

Thanks

I think I saw someone trying to sell one here. Do a search, maybe it's still available.

Its from a reputable shop, so I take it its a good price for a grey 70-200 IS?

Whats a new, non-grey set going for anyway? I take it its almost the same as Nikon's 70-200 VR, around $2.9-3.1k?

If I did the conversion right..that's a pretty good price as compared to how much I paid for mine..but it also depends what is the definition of grey? Grey as in a parallel import unit? I think what would be the most critical thing is will Canon fix the lens for you if it has problems, and whether it has warranty. As I understand it, even if you purchased a Canon lens from somewhere else, it should be covered by an international warranty..if the grey unit does not have such coverage then...it could be pretty risky..just my 2 cents..

Its a grey unit, and does not come with warranty.. maybe that could be the reason its so cheap?

OK, so basically $2450 w/o GST is still a very good price for a grey, no warranty 70-200 IS lens, right?

Canon will service any lens just fine.... if you are willing to pay.
